PFA was recently contacted by the Saskatchewan SPCA in hopes we could provide some assistance to a cat rescuer in the town of Lipton, Saskatchewan who ran up against some prettyn unfriendly local bylaws.
This woman has been rescuing the towns strays for many years, most of them sweet, tame cats who were dumped outside when they were no longer wanted. She took in as many cats as she could, but some of them go in and out through a dog door.
The town recently passed a roaming-at-large by-law that has led to a neighbour trapping 4 of her tame, sterilized cats, and the town then relocated them to farms. She feels awful about this and knows their chances of survival on the farms are slim. This threat of trapping/relocation will continue as longas she has cats going out of doors, so she is trying to keep them contained, but has 11 cats that need to find new homes.
All but two are sterilized, and all are tame, sweet and friendly. We are hoping that PFA supporters will share this info far and wide in the hopes that we can get some foster or adoptive homes lined up for some of these cats, hopefully in the surrounding area.

1. Thorney – Thorney is approx 5 month old female kitten, soon to be spayed. She is a feisty little kitten as she had to fight for any food before she was rescued. She doesn’t back down from anyone or anything. She also has a swirl (curled tail) tail as it appears it may of been broken at one time and she lost part of it. She has pretty colors with the longer hair dark brown and paintbrush flecks of orange on her body. She loves to come and cuddle in bed at night and poke at your face to see if you know she is there. She would be a wonderful new addition to anyone’s family.
2. Cabana – Cabana is a neutered male approx 3 – 5 years old. Cabana would do best with a home of his own or maybe one other cat. I think he has had a hard time finding a home of his own. He is not real affectionate but he does like to curl up on your lap with you while you sit and watch tv. He also likes to cuddle next to you in bed. He has had a tough life out there and could really use a forever home.
3. Susie – Susie is a spayed female approx 5 – 7 years old. Susie Q had a hard start she arrived at my place about 4 years ago with no ear tips, pregnant and had 3 kittens that she had had a month or so before. She had been a cute calco kitten herself that someone in the town had grown tired of and tossed her out. She loves to sit beside you and take part in your day, she lies her petting and curls up her feet when she is happy. She is interesting in the way that she looks at you and studies your face. I always know when I have a bad hair day by the look on her face. She deserves a good home. She is a sweetheart.
4. Ginger –Ginger is a neutered male, approx 4 years old and is a beautiful boy. He looks like a fox with his long slender face and his long coat with his bushy tale with the white tip. He loves to play outside when the weather is good and he loves to cuddle up next to you in bed at night. He does well with other cats, but I think he is ready for a home of his own where he gets lots of attention and is shown how special he is.
5. Marlee – Marlee is a spayed female, approx 3 years old. Marlee is a beautiful calico cat. She would do well in a home of her own as she is bossy with other cats and likes to be in charge. She will visit and cuddle with you and hang out if she has your full attention. She likes to go outside in good weather but always happy to see you when she comes in. She is a really nice little cat.
6. Mattie –Mattie is a spayed female, approx 4 years old. She is a sweet and happy little girl. She is always so glad to see you and comes to greet you just like a dog. She loves to cuddle on the bed at night with you. She is a goof too and sometimes likes to hang over your shoulder. She is good with other cats and dogs. She would be a wonderful addition to anyone’s family.
7. Dexter –Dexter is a neutered male approx 5 years old. Dexter is a character. He loves to hang over a chair or lay with his back legs straight out like a chow would do and his front feet and head hanging over the front of the chair. He loves to curl up on your lap while you watch tv. He likes to sleep beside you in bed. He walks around with a sold step of authority like a suma wrestler. He is a great guy. Good with other cats and dogs
