Regina Humane Society Dog Jog and Oberhund

Last weekend, I had a blast participating in the Annual Dog Jog in Wascana Park, a fundraiser for the Regina Humane Society. My little dog Atti loved meeting so many other dogs!

Jennifer Berg is a great friend to PFA, and she is the driving force between www.oberhund.ca, a resource organization for dog lovers. She has posted a great video of the walk HERE.

Jennifer also frequently mentions PFA and our work in her regular newsletter. This month, she actually featured me in one of her articles.
Thanks Jennifer!

Farm homes needed for Feral Cats

A colony of thirteen cats residing in Glencairn recently came to the attention of People for Animals.

These are cats who have been abandoned or lost, and have banded together in an area where residents have been feeding them. People for Animals is determined to prevent further reproduction among this colony, so the cats are being trapped and sterilized beginning today (May 5).

We urgently need good farm homes to take some of these cats who will no doubt turn out to be feral. The cats will all have been sterilized and treated by vets. If you can help by giving any of these poor cats a place to call home, please call 569-9730, or email pvogt@sasktel.net or luvcats@accesscomm.ca. Thank-you so very much!

Be Kind to Animals Week!

Take note animal lovers: May 3-9 is Be Kind To Animals Week! Give your cat an extra snuggle, take your dog for an extra walk, or make a donation to an animal charity. The animals appreciate it!

Archie is doing excellent!

Archie our sweet shaved guy is in a great foster home now, with Barb and Lindy. They love him, and sent along the photos posted above. He is getting along famously with their own cats, and loves the gas fireplace.

Jade's little family

Jade is a female cat with lovely green eyes that had been living at one of our feeding stations in North Central Regina. She was targeted early in our spring trapping blitz, as it was clear she was pregnant. However, we didn't get to her in time, and she carried her litter to full term. Thankfully, we were then able to trap her and catch the kittens, only a few days old at the time, and place the whole family in foster care with Ken. Jade is a wonderful momma, and her babies have thrived. Yesterday Michelle was able to visit with them, and get some photos of the babies, although Jade was camera shy. We had first thought that Jade was feral, and had planned on releasing her back to her territory as soon as the kittens were 4 or 5 weeks old and she was spayed. However, she has made amazing progress at Ken's, so she will remain there for a while longer, while he assesses her chances for taming down. The kittens will be available for adoption in about three weeks. All but one of them are Manx!
