Sweet Serena and her Babies

Meet Serena, a beautiful calico mama cat who was rescued after two of our dedicated feral team members came across her giving birth in an old styrofoam cooler. Our volunteers spent a long afternoon in a mouse infested hole to monitor Serena and ensure she wasn't disturbed while birthing the kittens - and then trying to get her to a safe place where she could care for her babies in peace.

Despite a number of frantic calls, there was no-one available to take in the little family on short notice so the garage of one of the feral feeders was quickly converted into a safe haven for Serena and her babies.

Sadly, one of the kittens didn't make it, but Serena and her remaining two kittens are thriving. Serena is a very calm and affectionate cat who is a very good mama cat to her babies, and the kittens, Chorizo and Bratwurst, are beyond adorable! They look just like their mama, with beautiful markings. They are now three weeks old and starting to explore outside the nest.

The kittens will be available for adoption at 8 weeks of age and we are sure they will find homes quickly. However, mama Serena will need a foster or adoptive home as well and it's always much harder for mama cats.

Please consider opening your heart and your home to a cute kitten or a sweet mama cat who will need lots of love to comfort her once her kittens are adopted.

Contact us at saskpeopleforanimals@gmail.com if you are interested in giving one of the kitties a home.
