A Shelter-Box Workshop

PFA does all kinds of things to help homeless cats in our city, including the construction of shelters for our feral cats who live outside year round.

Last year we were pleased to discover that we could transform donated Styrofoam containers that are used to transport pharmaceuticals into secure, cozy (and economical) shelters for cats wintering outside. We need dozens and dozens of these shelters to keep our feral cats safe and warm during the winter months.

This week our efforts got a tremendous boost from a kind group from the Westhill Park Baptist Church who got together and donated their time to a shelter-box building bee - a tremendous effort that resulted in 22 boxes completed, stored and ready for the next busy winter season.

Thanks so much so Heidi, Carolyn and the Westhill Park Baptist Church group for offering their time and efforts to help us help feral cats - and to our feral team and other volunteers for running the workshop and transporting and storing the boxes.

A Little Boost For Prairie Animal Assistance

Our good friends at Prairie Animal Assistance will have donation cans on display in the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority's Liquor store for the month of May.

If you happen to be shopping in one of the stores, please consider dropping some spare change in the tins to help a very worthy cause. PAA rescues horses, dogs and cats and provides rehabilitation for animals with behavioural issues related to stress and trauma that they have suffered through no fault of their own.

They are also home to a number of older trained guide/assistance dogs that were dumped when they were no longer deemed useful by the people they supported for many years.

Teeny Tiny Tabby Babies!

This beautiful mama cat is Ophelia, shown with her precious 2-week old babies. Ophelia is sitting pretty now, but was recently rescued from a perilous and stressful situation from a home where a number of feral and tame cats had been left behind.

They are now safely ensconced in a wonderful PFA foster home, and will receive the best of care until they are ready to be listed for adoption.

In the meantime, we are delighted to have such sweet tiny babies in our midst! A huge thank you goes to our hardworking feral team for rescuing this little feline family.

It's a Cat's Life!

One of the best thing about volunteering with PFA is visiting our kind,cat- loving foster homes. It is a true pleasure to visit homes where animals are cherished and respected, and where our rescued strays find a safe haven while they wait for their forever homes.

Recently I visited Sharon and Doug, foster home to Newbie, our little refugee from the storm, and the sweet, petite Pepper. They have a houseful of rescued cats, including 2 former PFA foster cats that they adopted, but still opened up their home to foster young cats in need.

These pictures show what a great deal the cats get at Sharon and Doug's home! They have lots of toys and a great window perch for watching birds and squirrels.

What a great life for a cat!

PFA at PetSmart

PFA is participating this week-end in the Adoption Days promotion at PetSmart, which gives us a great opportunity to show off our adoptable cats like Super Kitty, a terrific male cat who lost his ears to frostbite but is super sweet, super loving and overall super - hence his name!

PFA thanks all of the volunteers and foster homes who are showcasing adoptable cats that have made this promotion possible!

Single Male Stray (Very Handsome) Seeks Loving Companion

For all you tabby lovers out there, we are very pleased to introduce Stripe, a handsome and charismatic cat who has spent much of his recent past tom-catting around town, but is now ready to settle down and find "the one" - an adoptive owner who will shower him with love and affection (ok, and maybe a bit of tuna as well).

Don't worry, Stripe will eagerly share his love right back! In addition to his good looks, he is very smart and a great conversationalist - he doesn't hesitate to share his thoughts. He will also happily keep your feet warm on chilly evenings. You've gotta love that.

Join Us for Petsmart's National Adoption Weekend April 30 - May 3 2010

People For Animals will be at Regina's Petsmart location this weekend with some of our lovely foster cats up for adoption. Please come and show your support and perhaps take home a cat whose been waiting for their forever home!
