Not-So-Forever Homes for These Rescues

People for Animals has recently accepted several cats back into care who were adopted into loving homes several years ago, but are the victims of unfortunate circumstances and changes in their owner's life situations.

Handsome tabby Jake was a feral team rescue back in January of 2009. He had been living at a feeding station for months, but quickly adapted to being a house cat and was adopted by his foster mom. Jake is now 5 years old, and is a loving and happy cat needing a new home.

Luna (tuxedo) is a beautiful and friendly cat who was adopted back in 2008. She is also approximately 5 years old now, and is  lovely and affectionate cat.

Luna came back to us with her buddy Presley (black), another rescue who is quite shy and would do best if she could be fostered and adopted with Luna.

All these cats will be listed for adoption, but in the meantime, we need to find them foster homes. With a busy spring of rescues and kitten season in full swing, it is difficult to find foster homes for adult cats, and they also take longer to get adopted when competing against baby kittens!

Our only option is to board them until space opens up, which is costly for PFA and also not the happiest place for cats used to daily interaction with loving families.

No Rest for the Weary Cat Rescuers

Not only is it prime kitten season, but is also seems to be the time for stray and needy cats of all ages, types and situations.

The gorgeous and friendly cats pictured below have all landed on our doorstep in various perilous circumstances just in the last week alone! And we currently have a wait-list of tame cats that are living on the street, being cared for by our feral team until foster space becomes available.

Albert is a beautiful and friendly tabby found at a feral feeding station in an area that is notorious for tame strays. He is super sweet and cuddly.

Henry is a handsome young boy found stray, but with a tattoo and microchip. When we tried to return him to his home, it turned out that his former owner had moved out of province and simply abandoned him to life on the street.

Fluffy little Latte is a teeny kitten born to a feral mama at a feeding station who was scooped early for socialization and is now ready for a forever home.

Pretty Robbie was found a feeding station in North Central desperate for food and some human attention. A sweet and purry-cat, the feral team volunteers simply couldn't leave her behind.

Tiny Godiva, named for her rich chocolate-coloured coat, is a sibling to Latte and is also being socialized in foster care so she can find a loving forever home.

Our little social butterfly, Winn, is all dressed and ready for his forever home in his tuxedo. He was rescued by  PFA volunteer who looks out for neighbourhood strays, and couldn't bear the thought of this little guy falling victim to traffic on her busy core neighbourhood street.

We are always desperately short of foster homes for adult cats, but this is especially true in the summer, when people are focused on kittens, both in terms of fostering and adopting.

Marta is Doing Amazing!

Little Ms. Marta was a scrawny stray found on one of the coldest days of this past winter - one of the few where the temps dipped below -30. She was huddling in the window well of a home, trying desperately to get warm.

Once rescued and safe, Marta was quickly adopted by a kind, cat loving family who have been been happy to provide regular updates on this sweet little rescued girl.

This latest pic is so much different than her photos upon rescue. Her mom says she is a very happy kitty.

We are thrilled to see our formerly skinny girl looking so healthy and happy! In the pic below, she is taking a much needed rest after chasing her ball.

PFA Kitten Adoption Fair

It's that time again! PFA currently has many wonderful kittens up for adoption, and we are anxious to find them loving homes.

We will be having an adoption fair at Pet Valu on Saturday, June 9th, with some of our sweetest kittens in attendance and seeking forever homes.

Marjorie is Marvelous!

Meet Marjorie, a stunning and unique cat who is a combination of tortoiseshell and siamese, giving her an unusual and exotic appearance as a striking tortie with beautiful blue eyes.

Marjorie was rescued one week ago, after being discovered on the roof of a building in the General Hospital neighbourhood, very frightened. It took a kind woman all day to coax her down and then try to read her tattoo (partially unreadable) and locate an owner,

Found reports have been filed, but no-one has come forward to claim this wonderful cat.

Marj isn't just a pretty face! She is sweet and smart, and would love a true forever home that will keep her safe and love her for the rest of her days.

It's June, and that means it's Adopt-A-Cat Month, and the timing is perfect as PFA is flush with awesome cats and kittens needing homes!
